Nice work by both entrants!

Not terribly sure I got the connection between the topic and the movies, though... and was that a veiled reference to Henry V in Bliss? ;D

well, i think the "tin" is someone losig the old tin.. and someone else gaining it as a new thing, and the "bliss" one i figured was people losig thier earthly lives, and gaining peacefull bliss in the world beyond..or somthing like that.. anyway thats just what i thought.. im probably way in left field though..

Tin is about a boy who loses his old fashion way when he discovers something new...more modern...

I'm not sure why, but this is a hard vote for me. Both shorts look and sound great. I even like the look of the blowouts and high contrast in Tin (sometimes it bugs me when nothing is ever overexposed). Bliss used blowouts well, too.

I, too, didn't really "get" Tin. I mean, I "got" it, understood it, but I didn't really "get" anything out of it. And Tin may have more issues with actors, etc., but then Tin was more ambitious and there was a visual narrative. Visually, Bliss doesn't tell a story. If you turn down your sound, you'll see that there's not a visual narrative in Bliss. I "get" Bliss, though.

If there was an option for a tie (which, of course, there shouldn't be), I would vote for a tie.

I am a bit stuck to . . . tin is fun, well shot and keeps you watching although I was expecting some more from the box. Great effort. As for Bliss, nice sequence with a good thought mover as a script. I dono who should get my 2C :o

IAL, you're dead on about the message of Bliss. It raises the question of whether death is really a beginning or an end.

and yes, i realize there is no narrative story to Bliss. This was more due to the fact that I wanted to submit *something* to the contest rather than be empty handed. Although i had a blast shooting it. I work full time 7 days a week (mainly to afford this cursed hobby ;)) so i shot it very early in the morning. It's more of a thought provoking piece than an actual narrative. It was part of a much longer poem i wrote years ago when i was much, much deeper :P. Anywho, I hope you enjoy it

Dan I thought your film was cool! I liked the visuals, though without the V.O they do not tell much of a story. The rack focusing is sweet. Nice work!

Thanks guys. I must say Kyle, I am surprised. I expected it to be a clean sweep with your short! I think you did a great job.

Anywho, I will come up with an idea for the next contest in a few hours. I hope more people will be willing to enter this one! Thanks again for all your votes.

OK new guidelines are up.

Oh and IAL, you must use a 1/6" ccd camcorder. Also your not allowed to zoom, pan (tilting is OK), focus, have actors or use a tripod. Also when youre shooting, do it hopping on one foot please. Thanks.

..even though i certainly dont agree with these wild sorts of ruminations, i probably wont have the time to enter in the next few months contests. i just started shooting a 2 hour length feature, and also have a commercial, and a short flim to shoot. so im swamped.. i dont even know if i'll be able to do all of that. :-/. so if for some uncognible reason that encourages more people to enter im like this -> :) .. anyway, i really thought this months entries were great! theres alot of talent here at DVXuser. and it shows. congrats dan! now im off to read the new rules, and cry cause i dont have time :'(
