I've tried to locate the slang term "pissin" on google with no avail.
Explain this and post some shltin footage at the same time.

So with the new letus 35, does it flip the image only vertically or both (vertically and horizontally)? If so that's "pissin"!! lol

i just ordered mine, and it designed to flip the image upright just like the mini35 does.
as far as i know, the letus35 is the second adapter being made to add the optical flipping (next to the original mini35). correct me if im mistaken? there are too many damn adapters out there for me to keep up!

Got a question for you guys with the letus flip, (sounds like a burger king special burger). Anyways, does the new letus35 flip have rod support? It looks pretty bulky, and I don't know if I would want that thing hanging of the front of my camera? Also, how does the lens alignment work, ie, how far to the right left, up down is the lens displaced? This can affect mattebox compatablility. Thanks.

I'm going to order my LetUs35 flip soon, as well... but here's what just caught me off guard--

Why wouldn't you use it through-out the whole short? Doesn't that make things seem a bit off? Just wondering.

Yea, I'd like to know this also. I know the flip is a tad different design than the regular letus. The Flip version being kind of "S" shaped.

according to quyen, the lens mount is displaced 1.2" vertically from the camera mount.
and a nay to the rod support, reason i'm ordering the cavision.
just keep your lens axis 85mm from the rods and you should be compatible with any 15mm matte box out there.

Im not sure what you mean... I have one particular scene that would benefit greatly from a very shallod DOF artistically speaking. The scene is fairly static but appears numerous times throughout the movie. I guess there are some scenes that could have used a more shallow DOF, but they where shot on an ana lense. Ill do this final scene in sqeeze when the lense comes. Intentionally also the scene is meant to have a different feel to it.... think of being on the inside of something or in the know vs not.

May I ask which rods you ordered? I need to do same but at this stage have been a little busy. If you could fill me in that would be great.

that is the old letus35 (the one I have) the new one looks different. Also Quyen says that it doesn't need support. I'd argue that as extensive use might cause issues on the DVX threads.

Ok guys....im TOTALLY baffled, and request your sage council and guidance please.

I am excited to see and learn more about the Letus35 Flip, but so far all I have heard is that it's "pissin".:undecided

Now, when other inventors are marketing their own adapters with images and results that border on being mystical, what I would humbly request is:

STANDARDIZED TESTING

Clips of all adapters on the same camera shooting the same things.

Comparitive clips of visible grain, light loss and resolution.

Comparitive clips of test pattern charts.

A clear understanding of what the heck each adapter is capable of and what their weak and strong points are.

( AM I the only one who hasnt a clue exactly WHAT the flip flips?):engel017:

Which adapter uses what support system, and their strengths and drawbacks are when shooting on sticks and hand-held.

I know these adapters range from 300. to 2000., which i suppose to some may be a small investment, but for some of us, it's a good amount of cash to spend for unproven adapters and varied quality demo clips.

Would Barry Green or other site gurus take on the task of standardizing a testing methodology, so we can understand the pros and cons of the ever-growing world of 35mm adapters?

I would be happy to take the testing on myself, but will need the adapters here in New York, for a week to do it right using the DVX100A.

I welcome any and all feedback from users and creators of these amazing (if not incredibly puzzling) modern marvels of technology.

And finally, where in the world is Quyen when we need him most?

<big grin>

best to all,

brandon

I know one of the Moderators are going to be conducting a 35mm adapter test in the next few months, including the letus, sg35 M2 ect...

is the letus35 flip something you buy to add on to an existing letus35? Or is the $600 system all you would need?

dosborn
01-06-2006, 03:09 PM
the $600 is for the whole adapter.

my big question is... can anyone recommend a good matte box/follow focus combo to go along with the letus35 flip? will all of this equipment make handheld next to impossible?

Pissin is good...good is pissin. Except when pissed on. Dont google for slang, its more or less always wrong, we city folk change the meaning of a slang word daily. That's whats so pissing about slang!

OK serious question to anyone already using the Letus 35flip. Mine hasnt arrived yet and I am frantically looking for a rod solution. Anyone else using the flip with a rod set up... would love to know what your doing.

Just want to point out Quyen did ship a day after my order... item has never come to me however. But all things point to a satisfactory outcome and I should be happily shooting with this adapter soon.

I only saw pics of L flip and so I have no idea of the physical size, but as long as the GG can rotate to line up with the camera frame, it should not be a big problem (this is just a wild guess!)

Could someone post a "coherent" guide to
a possible solution for a Letus Flip Rod support,
follow focus, and matte box for the DVX 100a.
Complete, with model numbers and possible links
to purchase.

It's all so confusing. ..thanks...

I agree Adrian, in fact from what Quyen says you dont actually need rod support and based on the size of the mount I would tend to agree. I have purchased a cokin filter stage that attaches to my Canon FD lenses, it can rotate so all good there. I also purchased the small cokin lens hood which I will make a small sunshade for therefor eliminating the need to purchase a mattebox as all jobs are already covered.

When my unit arrives (I finally got a USPS shipping number today) I will test the adapter and check the vignetting and the clearance to add a rod system for extra support at this stage the cavision will probably be a good option. not expensive and has a little support bracket designe for mattebox which I am hopping I can adjust to sit under the adapter or lens itself.

I cant add more til my adapter arrives.
