Funny that Sony owns Vegas, are they trying to get in the backdoor to find out how Panasonic gets its 24p?

I doubt it.. Vegas was one of the first NLES to support the 24pa and alot of people left Adobe because of it. Then when Sony bought Vegas last year they just kept it going.
I must say, about 3 months ago I didnt think much of Sony, but I went to a little party they had in Vegas at NAB and I was shocked how well they treated thier users.. Really well. I guess throwing those parties actually do make sense.

Hey Jarred!
You said above this is a Spec commercial. I am a little unsure exactly what that means. Is a Spec commercial like an advertisement on television for Sony's Vegas Video 5? Or possibly like a demo 'project' of the new capabilities of Sony's Vegas Video 5? Any elaboration you can give me would be much appreciated. Thanks! Also anyone else interested in giving what they think this would constitute would be great too!!
D
A spec commercial is in essense, a fake commercial. *It is meant to show how successfully one can come up with a concept and execute it.
Many directors, etc. just starting out in the industry do spec commercials in order to fill their portfolio and show others what they are capable of.
I was really excited about this contest, but I think I'm officially out of the game. *My v5 demo just expired and I just got a call to tell me that I'm going to Molokai (Hawaii) to work on a reality show for NBC for the entire month of July. *'Tis bittersweet *:) :(
Good luck to everyone else, and may the best Veggie win! *;D

Thanks Jive!
Okay, so in essence the commercial is very versatile, but it must advertise Sony's Vegas Video 5, as a new product, correct?
Also concerning other media such as music, do copyright restrictions still apply in this contest?
Jarred, are you looking particularly for commercials at 30 seconds or less, but just will accept longer ones if necessary? Or is it all good to you and the 30 seconds is more like a suggestion to contestants?
And does the commercial need to directly inform the audience of the new features in Sony's Vegas Video 5, or just demonstrate visually the opportunities Vegas 5 can allow a user?
Thanks for any help!

any lenth is ok, i just suggested it because most commercials are like that.
You dont need to actually say "this is what vegas 5 does" but it might help, I mean most things like the 3d stuff is pretty obvious.

Is there a location to where we can view what others have already submitted?

Very Cool...many thanks for a great contest and everyone that entered! I don't have a problem with others seeing my contest entry. Jarred, can you publically post what I uploaded or do I need to post it online myself elsewhere so as not to waste the forums hard drive space? I can do that without a problem. Thanks again!

Here's a link to a reduced image size version of my entry piece, which was 720x240 pixels. This file is about 6MB I think, so you may want to Right-Click and Save-Target-As to download to your hard drive. The file below that I've posted online was not created or optimized for online streaming...and not to mention the fact that this reduced image size takes much away from the quality which was in the original image size mentioned above. Enjoy...
