Ok I have AVID Xpress Pro HD v5.2 (PC).

First of all, I have not seen it work with any 1080P stuff.

Also, I have yet to get a decent export from any of the available HVX 720P
stuff.

WTF am I doing wrong here !
Who has had luck with AVID HD 5.2 exporting this stuff?
If so, how did you do it?

Today's been a bummer day trying to make sense of this.

I'm now dumber for having tried this!

Hey there steve, I also have avid 5.2.1 and so far here are my findings....Working with Kakus footage, all the 720p and 1080i footage works great, no problems at all improting, haven't exported yet.

But as has been said already, the 1080 24p clips just aren't being recognized correctly by Avid. For instance, I took Kaku's 1080carspassing clip, and created a 1080p 23.976 project, but it doesn't recognize DVCpro HD, instead it recognizes the clip as a DNxHD 115 MXF or DNxHD 175 MXF, NO DVCpro HD.

Now ofcourse I can import the 108024p clips into a 1080i DVCpro timeline but not a 1080p timeline. Next I opened a 1080i project, and attempted to import kaku's raw 1080i footage, it comes up with an error message reading "the import file is not a supported XDCAM MXF file"

It can't recognize raw 1080i files, this is strange.

I've had no trouble pulling the 720P and 1080i video in. As noted, creating a 23.976/24P timeline is poopoo. It must be a 720P/59.97 (ok, that might not be the EXACT number) or a 180i/59.97 timeline.

Once I had the video in I just right-clicked the video or timeline and picked EXPORT from the menu. I saved out some uncompressed AVI files and fiddled with those in AE.

So it SHOULD be working. I notice that you mentioned that you have 5.2. Did you mean 5.2.1? If not, you might need that small .1 upgrade?
