It is often the case that one can obtain the cash equivalent of the prize you win in contests like these. Get a letter from the car dealer for the amount they'd sell that prize to you for, and the sponsor can award you tahat amount in cash. Depends on the sponsor, of course...

John, you reminded me of something i was discussing with a friend after witnessing an abortion protest...

the protesters were publicly displaying large posters of dead, decapitated babies. my friend and i were joking around and discussed standing across the street with some large posters of nude women in tasteful poses.. just to be like "f you!".. we laughed.. then realized we would probably get arrested.

Oh, well, a lot of the info is here in DVXuser, then again you hear it from other people. The orange monkey is a character from a series of commercials.

They are only going to post the 10 favorites of each category, then they judge again and pick 4 of each category (1 winner and 3 runner ups) and then they choose the grand prize winner. It would be cool if all of us posted our movies, shall we?

..did anyone else play the catagory odds game. theres 5 catagories right. only a few finalists from each catagory.. so i figured .. hmmm which catagories will get the most entries. well i figured that #1 by far will be the "comedy" catagory. #2 will be a toss up between drama and action adventure with the nod to action adventure for more entries. #3 will be mystery, and biography comes in last for entries.

so i did a mystery.. why? well, to increase my chances of actually winning anything.. it wouldnt be my first pick if i was going to just make something ,but who cares... why not increase my chances which are very poor and can stand to use any increasing available..lol . and i didnt have time to do a biography idea i had in mind. so i spent 1 minute shooting it, and 5 minutes editing and adding sound. then uploaded it.

i figure i might actually win something if theres only 2 mystery entries. lol

i thought about that too neil...but then I thought again about why that is and figured that those less entered categories are less entered because they are harder to make films for...so I just stuck with action adventure :)

..well, not really any harder. just less desireable. the only thing that actually makes them "harder" would be that nobody wants to have to think about what it would take to do one because they'd really rather do something else. its more of a subconscious mental block than an actual difference in the level of difficulty.. and its my theory and hope that everyone else thought the same thing as you did.. ;)

LOL I did the same kinda thinking. *Mine was kinda funny, but if it had been entered into the comedy category it'd be up against some stuff that's probably outright hysterical, so the chances of winning there would be fairly slim. *I ended up choosing "action", because there was really no other way to describe it.

Guess it was a good choice- I just got a call today from a lady at Cadillac saying I'm in the top ten for that category! *Made my day, that did. *It doesn't mean squat in terms of prizes, but at least it's survived the first round of cutbacks!

And I agree about everyone posting their clips- but let's start a new thread for it in the "clips" section. *In fact, lemme go ahead and do that right now...

I got a call earlier today, top ten mystery. That pretty much psyched me, looks like DVXuser's are rocking the ridge. Now to get all this paper work filled out, damn i wish i didn't have 10 people in it, that's ten people to track down for the release form.
