:o :o :o :o *Some random frame caps from 4th of July fireworks in my town. Shot at 24PA. Captured in Vegas with pulldown removed. I tried to keep the images from blowing out and I think some of the shots here look very filmic, but much more so when the actual video is viewd though... A problem area I noticed is with very bright reds, as evident from the car break lights, the reds there gets very blocky.. hmmmm
keep in mind though, all the outdoor shots was done from a moving vehicle and the fireworks was shot hand-held at full zoom.

42 is prolly my favorite, that clip when viewed on the TV is very reminiscence of 16mm material on Discovery channel

yeah i just love that point when you sit back and watch your footage on a big screen and you forget that it's video.

I vote for #49 too. Boogerg - what exposure setting were you using? (Was it auto iris?) :-/

I believe it was 2.8, fully opened iris was too much for the fireworks.

what is that 2pff.com stand for? 2 post fabulous films?

at anypoint, those low light grabs look great, not alot of noise.

Booggerg (another, what does that stand for?), does vegas automatically remove the pull down when you capture from the dvx or do you need to do something like render out the pulldown. I am thinking of dropping this Pinnacle NLE crap i have as it doesn't play nice with the DVX.

Hey Booggerg, does the dvx naturally cause the lights to star like that? Or did you use a filter?

#49 was very cool.

#49 is my favorite as well. Great caps!

For booggerg:
You mentioned reds blocking up. I really think we need to be shooting with chroma set to -4 or lower to avoid chroma noise. I also read somewhere that they had to tune the Chroma Phase to -4 as well. I need to check this, but it might remove some of the red bias that we see.

Best regards,

I shot the fireworks with a UV filter on. I do get some flare from that, but I don't know if the star pattern is attributed strictly by the UV filter.
