Here are some stills from a short I just finished work on. *It was shot in a DVX100, and I was able to get some nice depth of field using long zoom shots with a wide open aperature. *The settings were F5.

Let me know your thoughts.

These are very very nice. I am delighted to see others forcing some pleasing depth of field from a format that is notorious for giving an "everything in focus" look.

Hey - nice shootin'. What settings did you use? In particular, I'm curious if you shot thick or thin mode... ???

I shot F5, including thick mode. I have not intention of going to film with this. I pretty much used the default settings. I may have tweaked the ped setting to get a richer black color.

Saw these clips a while back; nicely done.

The one pic looks like it's from a dialogue sequence... How did you get the audio? Clip on wireless mics?

My XLR cable for shotgun is only 20 feet long, which has limited which shots I can set the camera far from the actors...

Actually, there is no recorded dialogue. The whole piece is set to a classical piece by Chopin. I didn't record any audio.

By the way, the short just got accepted into the Deep Ellum Film Festival, here in Dallas. (www.def2.org)

Those shots do like nice. I am a big fan of DOF. And congrats on the films acceptance to Deep Ellum.

I am at $2133.00 in my goals to the DVX. $1000.00 or so to go. >:(

I need to start saving up for one. I got hit with the technology bug.

Good for you!

Checked out the site, but much of it's not up yet...

Wondering, WHAT FORMAT did you enter? DVD, I assume?

thanks
