Could you be more specific? What are you trying to do?

i still dont know what your question is.
you want to shoot a guy on greenscreen and insert him into a matte painting of a grassy world with a big tree?
well shot that man walking in front of a huge green wall, then build the background animation and finally import them in PP, use keying, chroma key, and key the upper layer, which is the "man_walking" layer.

you could, um go to a grassy field, and shoot the man walking through it.

HA. It's always the practical approach that is the last to be thought of. Wise man, you are.

Hey Rich - I bet you've gotten actual job requests with vague descriptions like that. But I bet your reply then is probably "Sure thing!" :cheesy:

you might look for some stock footage and play around with it in after effects, otherwise if you have to create it, well I hope your handy with a 3ds max

You can certainly attain that sureal effect with the greenscreen- just make sure you have a good shot to key with. I've seen a lot of people who shoot themselves in the foot by shooting a crappy video and try and make it look better on the back end.

Heres an idea, make a miniature, get some HO scale model railroad trees and bushes and stuff, and shoot that. Pay careful attention to your lighting, then get all crazy in after effects with filters and effects. It could work, but it would take some time.
Another idea, and yes I'm serious about both of these, is get a little kid to draw your backgrounds. A tiny man lost in a child’s painting would be pretty surreal.
well I would use maya. it gives you freedom. with maya live you can determine the camera movements, and you can apply that data to the virtual camera... it is crazy man :)
