Barry Green mentioned in the JVC topic that we can get uncompressed HD from all cameras. So how is this done with HVX200 ?. Thanks.

The analog outputs are uncompressed. What you can do with it is an entirely different question -- capturing uncompressed high-def is an extraordinarily challenging task, as it eats up a gigabyte in around six seconds.
There are some tools out there now coming to market to try to make it more practical; the CineForm Wafian, for example, but that's a $15,000 box. And even then it doesn't retain the uncompressed nature of the footage, it compresses it into CFHD.

Thanks for the quick answer. But can you analyze the subject a bit more ? For example the uncompressed HD comes in an format that PC NLE systems uderstands or it has to be compressed once again. The problem stands for the current CPU speeds and Hard disk speed and capacity or there are other technical matters wich complicates the situation more. And in other words can we hope that in the near future we can actually work in the uncopressed footage with a PC ? Please explain. Thanks again.

You don't need quite much of processing power to handle uncompressed video, since it does not need to be compressed.
Just take Kona LH, powermac and eg. Lacie's Biggest 2.5TB and there you have recording & editing station for 5.5 hours of uncompressed 1080p24 footage.
(Just to give Barry that writing time...:-)

More questions: Where the analog outputs go to ? You can write uncompressed HD streaming video directly to a PC or you still have to use Cineporter or something like that ? And toke lahti, sorry I didn't understand the second line of your reply. You said that all there is is a need of a large hard disk or I understood wrong ? Thanks.

So the HVX200 outputs 10 bit 4:4:4 via its analog output? Has this been proven? Has anyone done tests? Or is it really 8 bit 4:2:2 just like the DVCPROHD codec?
