Looking to shoot something in January, hoping to Shoot HVX, editing in premiere, and wondering if the workflow is the same as my DVX one as long as I'm shooting SD? Obviously I can't shoot onto mini DV with the HVX and get 60P.
I need slow mo but SD is fine.
Thanks

The slo-mo would first be recorded to a P2 card and then internal to the camera you do a downconvert and recording to the mini-DV tape. You could then edit this in premiere.

couldn't I just play back the footage off my P2 and capture through firewire?

That would be a 720p signal, if your NLE supports it then sure.

Actually, I *think* if you switch the analog outs to 480 it will then play back material recorded at either 720 or 1080 at SD rez... but I could be very wrong.

Do you mean to tell me that you cant record SD at 60P to the P2 Card?! That's pretty strange, P2 is just a storage medium, why would it only work at 720 and 1080?

There's no spec for that in DVCPRO 50, the SD codec. And it only works at 720, not 1080i (no spec for 60fps 1080)

as far as I know.. 60P is not a supported frame rate for SD... only 60i(30FPS)

60P is only possible when shooting 720p. In standard-def your choices are 24p, 30p or 60i.

Many people, myself included, would be very interested to see an SD slow-mo clip that has been shot in 720 60p and down coverted in camera to SD. That 720 demo clip of the karate guy would work.
That brings me to another question. Can you copy MXF files from computer TO camera for a conversion to SD? Or would it make more sense to do it in the computer at that point?

Edit: I guess that demo clip wasn't shot in 60P.
