Want an opinion

I am a professional filmmaker considering the XL H1 who has used everything from Panavision to DVX, including the HDV Sony. I currently own an XL2, a DSR-300 and a super16 Aaton XTR.

Is there anyone out there who owns and/or is making a film with this camera? I've read the (somewhat biased) opinions here of people based on specs and rumor - and internet posted clips don't mean a thing to me.

I realize it's just been released, but I would really like to hear the opinion of a professional who is using this camera on a day-to-day basis if there is one on this forum...

How happy are you with the camera, the lens, HDV in general?

Mac, since you're local I can let you know that I'll be likely setting up a demo day of the H1 in the bay area.. We have it in stock now.... and, it and all the other new cams i.e. the HVX200 will all be at our show w/ the reps on Feb 1st and 2nd.

Birns & Sawyer is hosting an XLH1 presentation this Saturday, I think... you may want to check with them.

yes.. it will be.. in San Rafael, we'll be doing a demo presentation.. but I haven't scheduled that yet. If you want a demo soon, PM me, maybe we can do some one-on-ones. I have one camera available to 'open the box' and a few others to sell.

In South San francisco, the show is open to the public.... I'll post on another thread.. but Panasonic, Canon, JVC, will all be showing off their cameras. including about 80 other manufactuers... check my link in the signiature...thx!

On a side note, is snader carrying the new sony hdv master tapes? I need about 20...

yes.... if you call Snader at 415-257-8480 ask for Tapes (or Yvonne or Trinka).. they are the tape guru's :-)
