Did adobe incorperate any upgrades into CS2 that help out video editors in any way?
Any reason to upgrade really. CS1 is pretty good to me...

I can't see anything worth dropping $160 bucks on... :undecided
I think if you update the CS1 with all the patches it's pretty close. like you said - CS1 is a pretty good product.

Lots of new features that are useful if you touch-up old photos but not much for us in the video world.

But worth $160?... Can't find much wrong in that area now....
The camera RAW support was greatly improved. Nice if you're into it

Is the raw patch for CS1 not as good? I haven't tried it
its not bad, just not as developed and featured as cs2
Question, I'm running CS1, say CS3 comes out and toally rocks our socks. Will I be able to upgrade from 1 to 3, and skip 2?

Bummer. I have never had any problem upgrading from a couple versions back to current with adobe. Doesn't mean yes for sure, but I bet if CS3 comes out you could go from CS1....

Well I have CS2 and love it. At first it didn't run fast at all until I got a patch from them. Now it works so fast and its great. I say its worth the price for the Adobe Bridge alone but that is just me. I love the vanishing tool as well. Plus the new way of selecting layers instead of linking them you just select multiple ones. Plus Smart um, transform or whatever where you dont loose the quality when shrinking then raising back up. Also if the jones' got it, then you must keep up!

That's totally up to you. Check out the new features on the Adobe site and look at the feature videos (http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/newfeatures.html) then decide for yourself if THOSE features are worth $160.00 to you.

Adobe bridge is pretty sweet. And yes, if you're shooting stills of anything of importance you should be shooting RAW. CS2's RAW converter is really quite good.

Does anybody actually buy Photoshop?
Just kidding. It seems like everyone I know has it and I know they didn't all buy it.:)

I bought my first version of photoshop, "6" when I was a student, since then I have been upgrading. CS2 is definatly worth the upgrade, it is now faster to work with large amounts of RAW files then it is to work with jpgs, IMO that is worth the upgrade alone, but there are lots of little things that got upgraded as well, new patch tool, red eye tool, new grid distort under the distortion tools, and lots of new additions that make working with video well worth it.
