I just filmed a wedding in a vineyard in Livermore, Ca. The Groom was from France and the Bride was from Kenya. The Best man was from Germany. It was very interesting. The Song to this Music video is called Bahia, and I believe the video turned out to be a wonderful memory fitting the mood of the song. I filmed a themed Beauty and the Beast Wedding at the Disneyland Hotel and in Disneyland recently. When I finish it, I will post the Music Video. Should be interesting...everyone was in costume.

I used two Sony VX2100s to capture the footage in Livermore....I have a DVX 100a coming soon...Yes...I have seen the light...hehe.

See the Wedding Video here:

Thanks for the feedback! I made my own steady cam for 35 dollars from Lowe's. It works brilliantly. I have never really used color correction with my Sonys. Which scenes would benefit from it and how would they be better? I would like to know as I do not understand the concept of when to apply it. I believe camera motion is a must in these types of videos. I also believe in capturing emotion on film, and that it requires a thoughtful eye to small details. Again thanks for the CC and feedback. Please keep it coming.

Color correction also means working with the brightness and contrast. If you pump up the contrast until it looks good to crush the blacks and bring down the brightness (if necessary) it would look so much better. You should do that to all of your shots so it won't look dull and plain. As for the color, you can play around with it and try to get different looks. You can pump up the reds and green for more Miami- Bad Boys 2 look. Pump up the green and blues for a more Minority Report look. Pump up the greens for a more matrix look. Experiment. You can really express your creativity with it. Also, if you bring down the saturation, it will look more filmic as well. It just does. You only see vivid colors in soap operas and sitcoms usually, oh yeh, and weddings. Lol! But try it out. Experiment! lol! Peace man! Hope that helps.

Wow! Thanks for the info! I am totally going to start Color Correcting. I just tried this with a client's video and it was awesome. Sorry about posting in the wrong place...I was a little confused, but thanks for the comments!

No problem man. I love helping people. If you have any other questions, you can ask me. Oh yeh, also, if you want a soft look to the film, you can copy and paste the same video track on top of the original video track. Then you can add a blur effect to the top track (make sure the video tracks align perfectly). you then make the top track transparent. this will effect how much the bottom track shows up and how much softness you want on it. the amount of softness depends on how much blur you put and how much transparency or opacity you put on the top track.

If you have any other questions you can ask anytime man. Peace!

Here is a screen shot of a video I did standing out by a tree in fall. The first one is what the footage looked like before I did anything to the image. I then adjusted the Camera's settings to bring up the color and then color corrected it in Avid Xpress pro, as well as letterboxing it. It turned out nicely. Color correcting really brought out the warmth of the scene.
Thanks for the help!

Let me know what you think. Any thing you would do to make this clip better?

The wedding video flowed nicely. The only question I want to ask is why are there no close up facial shots of the bride and groom.. all almost full body or at least half body shots.

I guess I did not shoot them. I liked the framing in what I captured and never captured a shot with just the faces...It is definitely something I am going to think about now! :-)

No problem man. The second frame def. look so much better. watch your framing. When you letterbox you have the advantage of moving it up and down. To get my framing right, the "rule of thumb" is, divide your frame into three parts using three horizontal lines. The eyes of the people should hit the top line. No matter if you're zoomed in our out, unless you want a certain effect. But, it seems to be showing to much ground then it cuts off his head a little bit. But awesome color correction. Soo much better. Looks more filmic and makes me want to watch it. Good job! keep at it. Anymore questions, feel free to ask! Peace!

Haha! Thanks. Color Correcting has really chnaged my perspective. I just got hired to film the stage production of beauty and the Beast here in Fresno. Without what I learned recently, my shots would be much more dull.

My wife is one of the Silly Girls who loves Gaston and the director heard I did videography. The first few sample shots I've done with the Sony VX2100 have been amazing. I am tweaking the camera to get the best low light and color matching I can. The I will edit it in post. The Cast has seen a clip I recorded today from Tale as Old as Time and told me the raw footage was better than the final product of any other videographer to shoot one of these large scale productions. That made me feel pretty good! What a phenomenal show!
