Is this straight from the Xl2 or did you saturate in post? It looks really clean. I'm impressed.

If you leave the camera set flat, as it comes from the factory, yes it will seem washed out (although the amount of detail captured is amazing). But the camera is completely customizable....

Did you adjust the settings at all or not??

Oh my. I'm in such a rush that at first I answered you guys in Polish :)

Ok. so: The camera was out of the box. The only setting I used was gamma (set to cine). Then I CC it with magicbullet to see what it would look like (basicly I added a little bit yellow and preesed black's and that's all.

I must admit, being the previous owner of xl1s, that xl2 IS different. Not good different, not bad different but just different (speaking colowise of course). Anyway I think that xl2 has a great potential. It is clear, has great detail, and using customizalble settings you are able to achive a lot without post. (in my last short I used generaly Matrox CC build in Premiere and only in one sequence MagicBullet. Definetely saves you a lot of time...

xl2 is a really good camera. used it myself several times. had a xl1 previously. the lens if definately better. it breathes far less and the manual lens setting has been improved. my xl1 would override my focus even in manual mode. anyhow, your images are very clean as expected from that cam.

I own the DVX100a and one of the things that I love about it is the way it makes the colors pop. At work we have a XL2 and our camera guy hates it. I've seen the footage from it and honestly I have to say I'm not impressed. I'm not sure if his settings are off. But if you have any advice for me to forward to him. It's a great camera for inside when we shoot interiews using the 24p setting but other than that, anythine we shoot outside just looks bland in color. Everything has to be fixed in Post. I've gone in and adjusted his settings but he says that it makes it too red. Not sure what it could be... probably user error... LOL But pelase any words of encouragement would be great. Thanks...

These are some XL2 clips that show what is possible out of the camera in terms of bright colours. They are compressed video files, which is why they are a bit fuzzy, but they are without any filters or colour correction in post. I actually had set up a preset to compensate for muted colours on a very cloudy day, and forgot to change the preset the next day which was very sunny. This was the result.

Haven't tried a DVX, but I think the kayaks would have been about half the size in the video frame. The 20X lens on the XL2 has a nice long reach which can be very handy at times.

Give me a DVX any day!

1) mynamesbuck, dude, stop trolling. How does a camera biased quip like that make it into an XL2 section where the poster is posting XL2 frame grabs for feedback? If you can't make a direct comment either way on the material submitted why did you even bother coming into this thread?

2) Navitas, beautiful frame grabs. (unlike my fuzzy ones I posted recently).
