Here's a little puzzle for wanna be Einsteins...
http://freeweb.siol.net/danej/riverIQGame.swf
RULES: (my own translation...:undecided )
You have to get all people over the river. The game starts when you press the blue button on the first page. You can move over river by pressing the little red button. Choose the person by clicking on them.
- Only 2 people fits to the raft which goes over the river at one time
- You cannot leave Dad with the girls without Mum being there also
- You cannot leave Mum with the boys without Dad being there also
- The Thief cannot be left with any family members without the police man
- Only Dad, Mum and Police can drive over the river
Enjoy.
took me 3 minutes with try and error, but the REAL wannabe Einstein will solve it IN HIS HEAD without even notes on paper and then apply it with 1 single try! Hats off then!

I figured it out once but couldnt figure out what I did. They do a cool little dance when you get them across.
That was either a dance or some sort of double salute to der fuhrer...

Boy I feel like an idiot... that wasn't nearly so hard when I read the rule that only the mom, dad, and cop could pilot the boat. That freed up a lot of logic. Duh. I gotta' get to bed.

Read my deleted post. It's not tough at all once you pay attention to the ONLY father, mom, and cop can pilot boat... that's all you need to know.

Well I tried it, but my 11 year sister craked it in less than 3 minutes, oops looks like my Uni days was wasted.
Tried the second puzzle (by Einstien allegedly) and I setted it up with bits of cut out papers and listed all the variables and knows and let then crack it (I had to shoot off to work) and they [my sistres] done it in like 15 minutes, SO I dont believe that hype that says only 2% of people can solve this thats pure bullshit tons of people have done it, its easy BUT, maybe Einstein ment it to be done in your head WITHOUT paper THEN it becomes REALLY hard. However since no mention about not using paper was stated it is fair game to me.

Speaking of Alfred ..
There was a great artical in the early 1990's called ."NOT EINSTEIN "
about a guy who put a soild fuel jetto rocket booster on his sedan and took off on a long streatch of highway . He soon got the feeling hed bitten off more speed than he could chew
so he started to apply the brakes which immedialy liquified .
then the car launched itself (after a bump ) into a canyon where ... the highway patrol found small pieces of him ..
Hence
NOT EINSTEIN
Cheers

The logic on that river crossing puzzle is warped. If you leave the thief by himself, why wouldn't he just run away?
Seriously... I've been toiling for like 10 minutes and I've only got half of 'em over.
Does it seem a little violent to anyone else? What with all the child-beating and all.
EDIT: Okay, I cracked and read Hudsons spoiler. Damn you John, if I stuck to with it I could have done something with my life. Now I'm just going to cut corners every chance I get.
The thing that threw me off was leaving the prisoner unattended. I hadn't thought of it, as it was stated in the above post, she would totally just run away.
throw them all in the water
if they make it fine
if not .... solves that problem !

"The logic on that river crossing puzzle is warped. If you leave the thief by himself, why wouldn't he just run away?"
Are you saying its logical for the parents to beat the kids every chance they get?
HALF SPOILER - CLUE
It isn't too hard if you consider the problems that the rules present - the main one being how do you get the final boy (or girl) over. The ONLY way is with the Policeman. Once you realise that, it is easy. :)

That second link is weird.... has anyone done it yet?
One trick to solving the Einstein fish one is to do it visually. You have 6 variables/items to work with:
1. Nationality
2. House Color
3. Cigar
4. Drink
5. Pet
and the 6th being the order/location of the 5 houses.
So, in a row, write 5 empty lists of the 5 items. Each list is for one house. Keep the order the same for all lists as shown above.
Each time you get know information write it down on a list. For example, item 10 is "The Norwegian lives in the first house" so write down Norwegian in the first list (house) on the first line. Now continue looking for knowns. You will start to see "holes" in the lists where new info will fit.

Also, you don't need to use the clues in the order they're given.

Yeah, that's weird, too! What's weirder is that the parent only beat the kids of the opposite sex.
Oh and another thing - it's not okay to leave the kids with a parent of the opposite sex, but it's okay to leave the kids by themselves. What's the world coming to?
