Guys,

I'm probably going to buy a new LCD TV soon, but I have not been able to decide what size would be good for my room. :undecided

I've been thinking of 32". Or that's what my budget is thinking of. What do you think, would 32" be good for me?

Any suggestions & opinions? Here's a simple pic of my room.

That would be too close for anything above 52" or so. I'd say 43" would be good, but 32" would be find if you only want to spend that much.

I am a half meter further away and have a 52". When I hooked it up, I thought I had gone too big. It took me about 20 minutes to get used to it. Two weeks later I wished I had gone one bigger (60") for that really ridiculous image size.... I say 42 inch or 52 inch or get a projector.

Hehe, thanks, I thought it might be better to ask with little pic.

Thank you, guys. Damn, something over 40" would be so cool then... Yeah. It may be that if I get a 32", then I think "I should have gone bigger..."...I'm happy that I asked, I was already seriously thinking of 32"...thanks. :)

I'd say around 43" would be good.

I got a 60 inch (Not HD) at circuit city about a year ago for like $2900 and its way too big.

Dude you need some Feng Shui skills. I'd go nuts in that design scheme.

I got a 60 inch ... its way too big.

Screw that - I have a 110" DLP 16 feet from the couch - Not too big for me. Love it!

Thanks, guys for your thoughts.

Okay, here's another question that have been on my mind. Here's the picture.

What would be the good height for the around 40" LCD TV from the floor? Would 1 metre be good height if I'm going to watch it from sofa? What are your heights from the floor? What would be too high? I mean, I'm planning to put one table with my music mixer on it just under the TV. I have never had this big TV, I have no idea what would be the good height for the comfortable watching. :undecided

Is that a projector?

Yes - I think if they made an LCD that big it would be 250 grand...

Awesome for DVDs! - Like a theater in house....

They actually have formulas for questions like this available on the 'net. Found this one for DLP televisions for example, and it may be applicable for LCDs too:

The optimal screen size to choose is a function of your viewing distance from the screen - usually constrained by the size of your living room. The "rule of thumb" formula to determine screen size is:
divide the diagonal screen measurement in half to get an approximate screen height for 16:9 aspect ratio HDTVs
multiply the height by 3.2 to determine optimal viewing distance for 1080i content, or multiply by 4.8 to get the optimal distance for 720p content.

For example, take a 720p Samsung 43" diagonal HLN4365W, the screen height is roughly 21 inches, which when multiplied by 4.8 yields 100.8 inches, or 8.4 feet as an optimal viewing distance. At a typical living room distance of 10 feet, this screen would be too small to see fine detail on the screen. Backing out the optimal screen size, 10ft is 120 inches, and dividing by 4.8, that would require a 25 inch vertical height, or approximately a 50 inch diagonal HDTV for optimal perception of the 720p screen resolution from 10ft.
