Does medium format give you a shallower DOF than 35mm. I have heard maybe that this is not true but i thout the size of the film plane is what give it DOF. Is it possibel that since its more light hitting the frame the aperture needs to close more?

Bigger format, less DOF.
Three things determine the DOF: focal length, aperture, magnification.
Loger focal lenght = less DOF. For the same angle of view larger formats use longer lenses. This is the reason for bigger formats having less DOF.
Aperture has the same effect with all formats.
Bigger formats need to be magnified less when making prints, thus the original can be less sharp to produce the final print. This partly counteracts the focal length thing.
I have a holga and it's kinda crappy

That's an interesting statement Unix :), that's pretty much the point. But Holgas give a look that is very hard to replicate, wether it is crappy or not, I guess depends on the viewer.
I don't even own a 35mm camera at the moment, just my digital rebel XT and my Pentax 645 medium format. and I really can't say I miss it. I have a 45mm (wide angle) and a 75mm standard angle lens, and shooting portraits with very shallow depth of field with a wide angle lens is increadibly fun to do, and is a look that really gets people coming back for more. I will get a new 35mm camera, eventually, but for now, I have no desire to go back to it.
