Just thought I would throw this out there. please resond if you would like to take part in Photoshop Mini Contests, something like the matte painting thread, or even the work pookie did in the Before and After thread he started.

No big prizes, just something the mods (or we can vote on and suggest ourselves) can setup. Kind of like the premise would be to clean up and colorize an old, heavily damged photo from Google (we would all get the same photo, and the best would be with winner) and without using plugins.

Then we would discuss and share techniques. Also, this wold allow anyone to contribute to the subject matter as well.

I think it would be a great way to continue to learn and to share tips (after the contest is over).

I think that would be outside the scope of what this message board is intended to be.

Man, You guys are crazy :). I do all of that stuff to pay for school right now, retouching old photos, taking out people, swapping heads, removing blemishes, matting backgrounds. . . etc. Maybe I could just post some of those here, you guys could fix them up for me, and then I could tell you who did the best work :) I guess it used to be fun for me as well. . . but too many head swaps can make a guy go crazy over here. Doesn't anyone believe in a true photographic moment anymore? :)

I think that would be outside the scope of what this message board is intended to be.

Maybe -- but why the special Photoshop category? Why not just leave it as part of General Applications?

We all use photoshop in one form or another. Even if this was a poll here in this thread.

I'll host the photos if needed. Then you can vote on them as a poll thread.

I think it's a good idea. I'm in. Let the pixels fly.

I can't see any harm.

If the pictures aren't hosted by DVXuser, but some other location, there's no impact to this site.

It may be outside of the boar'ds original message/intent (DVX100), but a massive portion no longer deals with the DVX100 directly, but with any/all aspects of production. With that, Photoshop plays a huge part in a lot of people's work, and I think this could be a fun excercise, get feedback from peers, and learn a few things in the process.

I'm a noob hack at Photoshop, but I'd love to get in on this.

So it is then. Rapier and I will coordinate on the specifics. We've batted around ideas for the first one... we haven't talked, but maybe winner will pic next task.

I'll play; but suggest we keep the projects in an area that will bene us in our film world; i.e. matte paintings, composites.....
