I was wondering something. I've got this great script written (at least IMO) that I plan on shooting for the sci-fi contest. But, I think it's so good, that I'd like to submit it to a few specific film festivals. Now, would that be ok to do after the contest or what? Let me know what the deal is.

I don't know what the answer to that is, personally. But keep in mind that if you do submit it to any film festival, the fact that your work is online makes it much more accessible for people to see, so some (in the know, like us for example) may decide that we'd rather view it for free than pay the festival price to see it on the big screen.
If you're using film festivals as vehicles to promote your film, then by all means go for it. The only problem with that is, if you're trying to profit off of it with DVD sales, unless you have some badass special features, it won't do as well as you'd hope, given that people might have already seen it online.
Something to think about.

As long as your film isn't exhibited or promoted somewhere else before the end of voting in SciFest, you can submit to another festival at any time. DVXFest is all about encouraging users to make films and I hope people are submitting their films to other festivals and getting them out there.

For sure. I am very excited about this one. Thanks for all the answers, and good luck to all of you. The thing with submitting to some fests is just for some exposure, and a good time if nothing else.
