so I was shooting this comedic war short last fall called Ethiopian Hunger Strike (you can imagine how fun the plot is), and I brought it back to play around. Here are some color corrected shots.

I also messed with it a little further and got this:

the project (and the cc) wasn't my best effort, but it sure as hell was fun. :)

Your blacks are a little grainy. Loose the bandanas the colors are too bright, It defeats the purpose of CAMOUFLAGE!!! Other than that its good.

haha, yeah, I don't even remember why we had the bandanas on there. I guess we thought it was funny at the time. and you're right, the blacks are kinda nasty. I'll work on that.

crushed the blacks a little more. any better? I think so. (looks much better in motion though) also, I shot it with a 1/120 shutter speed. Gave the picture a decent jitter.

First Person = Big no no.
Video games are video games. Movies...well... are movies.
And don't get me wrong, I love them both, But I just don't think FPS games should be movies. They never turn out well (I never saw Doom, though).

what about FPV
(first person victim? dunno if that's an actual term or not).
But I think it can be really effective/powerful.
ie: violent scene from 'Ganster No1'.
and car door slamming scene in 'Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels'.
(dunno if I've seen this done in a 'comedic' sense though).

Good example, James. It can be, but I've rarely seen it.
If you can do it, though, kudos!
I'd lose those orange tips on the guns...

Since its a comedy, I'd say instead of losing the bandanas, I'd err on the side of colorful. Solid blacks tend to show up badly, so I'd have used another costume choice -- unless he was in a ninja costume. But even with comedy in mind, I'd paint the gun tips -- unless they're mentioned or part of the plot.
Post a short trailer when you get a chance!
Ah -- yeah -- the orange tips could be used for comedic effect. Good call.
