I just wanted to let everyone know that the release date for the H1 is November 17th. We here at Birns & Sawyer are getting training on Tuesday (Oct. 8th). We will also be putting some cameras from the first batch into rentals. One of the great things from our viewpoint is that all the accessories for the XL2 fit on the H1.....not too much waiting around for things to get made (mounts, 15mm rod plates, P+S, etc). Some of you may also know that we have been doing seminars here for many years and on Dec. 10th at our new location at the Arclight, we will be having our 1st H1 seminar (taught by Canon) and debut party. I'll keep everyone updated as we get closer

We've heard also that Canon will be offering an extensive range of lenses for this camera, way to go Canon. Never been a fan of Canon cameras until this one came along.

ya but unfortunatly no release date in sight for the lenses yet... for that Watchmaker footage they actually had to duct tape wide angle lenses for the few shots they needed to go wide....
but once they're out.. it will be awesome!

The release date for the XL H1 was November 17th. That was six days ago. Why is it still so quiet here? Just wondering.

I heard Monday that the 28th(ish) is now the expected date of release... with no real explanation of why the 17th wasn't met.
I'm expecting to have them in our hands in 2 to 3 weeks.

Evidently, according to this - Thread (http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=54923) it's already been released in Japan.

Price listed at ¥945,000 is somewhere in the low to below 8 grand USD range, no?
So, it appears future owners of the cam in the states are getting stuck with an extra grand to pay in HDV luxury taxes or something... :undecided

945,000 yen, at today's exchange rate, would be about US $7,899.69.
American pricing may not parallel Japanese pricing however. It should be available in the US very, very soon, so we'll find out what US pricing will be like, perhaps as early as next week, almost definitely by DV Expo time.
