Obviously stuff like this came to the forefront during the whole CKY/jackass video craze. Renting a car, paying for the insurance, and then trashing it.

I have a scene in a film where a car may need to be damaged (the windshield or bumper), I've called a few rental car places and inquired as to their insurance policies, most offer an option for $10/day insurance coverage. It's sort of difficult to find where the real liabilities are and whether i have to file insurance reports after an "accident". Has anyone rented a car with the intention of abusing it or actually gotten into a slight accident with a rental car and have any insight on this matter?

My insight is that this would be a *completely* unethical and CRIMINAL thing to do. I can't even begin to fathom the mindset of considering something like this.

They call them junkyards. Talk to those people. BTW, you ruin a rental car, it effects your drivers record and insurance policies as well. Also you will have to explain how it happened and if you lie on that, get caught, you'll be charged with destruction or property, and probably the cost of the car as well.

CKY/Jackass's renting a car and trashing idea was a fixed deal, don't think that they didn't pay for the wrecked vehicle.

I think this is a stupid post and I agree with Barry on the idea being unethical.

I agree.

The words unethical spring to mind and surely isn't supported by anyone here. Im locking this
