okay i have a quick question. I shot some super16mm this weekend on an aaton LTR super16mm camera. I realize now after shooting that i loaded the camera wrong. On the take up side of the mag i had the film going counter clock wise and looped under the roller then up into the other side. I realize now that i should have had it running clock wise and then under the roller up into the other side. When i loaded it the other way, i still had the pref on the right side and i had the take up side of the mag loaded right. The camera still seemed to run fine, not making any more then the typical sound. Is my film going to be all messed up or will it be okay (since the rollers on the take up side are indepdent)? Any input would be great. Thanks.

The question is, how did the fim run through the gate, emulsion side up or base side up. If it went through the gate right, everthing should be ok. There may be an increased chance of scratching. Let's hope not. Let the lab know what the problem was so they can check the wind before processing.
We all live and learn.

emulsion up for sure, i know that. thats why i'm wondering if its going to make a differences or not. When i took the film out of the mag everything seemed prefectly fine on the take up side. Thanks for your input. I'll let that lab know.

Everything should be alright, the worry maybe scratches. Did the film go emulsion side towards the rollers? If not, you should be ok.
Let's know how it turns out.

oaky so i think i'm confusing myself even more. I'm looking at the owners manual to the XTRp ( i shot on an older LTR54 but i think loading is the same) Anyway, the way they show to load the camera looks like the way i tried at first, but then when i went to load the take up side the pref was on the bottom, thus not working right with the grooves on the roller(on the top). Thats why i went back and flipped the feed over. All i know is when i loaded the take up, the pref matched up grooves and the emulsion went out towards the gate. I am worried about scatches though.
If a roll of super16mm is sitting on a counter top with the film coming off clock wise (the way it would naturaly fall off), should the pref be on the bottom or the top of the roll? And would this be different for negative or postive stocks?

The light brown matte side is the anti-halation backing known as "RemJet."

so is the light brown matte side the emulsion or the shiny side?

The shiny side is the base and the dull side is the emulsion.

okay, then yes, emulsion side was definitly toward the gate and the pref matched up in the take up side.
If a roll of super16mm is sitting on a counter top with the film coming off clock wise (the way it would naturaly fall off), should the pref be on the bottom or the top of the roll? And would this be different for negative or postive stocks?
