View Full Version : Example Footage

Can someone point me in the direction of some GY-HD100 footage? I'm not interested in seeing slow-motion clips of some guy's baby or a silly hitchhiker porno, pardon my crassness. I've scoured the internet for examples of footage or projects shot with the camera. But have found nothing helpful. So far I've heard it's all pretty dumpsville concerning the GY-HD100 what with dead pixels and some abstract split-screening effect and whathaveyou but it's the lesser of two evils what with the pricey P2 BS. I live in a remote corner of the world where expensive camera equipment is not readily available. I very badly wish to buy a quality 24p camera GY-HD100 or AGHVXsomething or other so that I may entertain my childish delusions of becoming a filmmaker BUT I can't seem to make up my mind on such a critical descision without first seeing how the footage pans out. There's no store around the corner or even in the same province for me to see the JVC GY-HD100. If someone could point me in the direction of some substantial footage shot with a GY-HD100 I'd be truly most appreciative.

I was going to point to the stuff I shot on DVInfo, but honestly, the tone of your post is off-putting.

I'm not trying to be a jackass, but all of the people here who have taken time out to put their stuff on the net so people like you can diminish it...they all hang out, right here.

And to add something: why should you care about the subject of the footage? As long as it represents the quality of the camera, does it matter what you see? It could be a cows pie for sake.
Actually, a pie like that can contain a lot of detail and color tints. It could be quite useful.
You can see flies landing on it in true 24p!

Found some links:

And here, the HD100 with Mini35 testcase:

Both are Nate's work.

I appreaciate everything that everyone does, but its true the footage that is out there isn't so great. Nothing to film or TV like. But this is more of a privilage than anything else so really we can't complain much. However it would be nice to see some really good stuff. I know if I had one of these cams I would but some up, I did when I was one of the first to own a DV 500. But thats just me. I really want to get this cam but I am holding out on the Split Screen issue. Fact of the matter is, it can be fix, it just a matter of when. Eventually JVC will have to fix it to keep sales going.

There will be a delay before you can see any "production footage" from this camera freely posted on the internet. It has really only been in the hands of most production companies for a few weeks and the accessories are only arriving now (large batteries, wide angle adapters, etc.) No one is going to post their professional stuff until the time is right.

I have shot some great scenes with the camera for two very high-profile corporate clients, as well as tests for a syndicated TV series and a feature film... none of which I can post due to copyright, lack of talent release, and/or non-disclosure agreements. So for now all you are going to get out of me are shots of charts or "models" I have releases for (my kids.)
The only reason I was even able to post the "silly hitchiker porno" (maestro's words - not mine) was because I obtained special permission from the producers and a release from the actress. That screen test provided valuable proof of the cameras low-light capabilities in 0dB gain. In fact, every test clip Nate, Barry and I posted has significant results, and many many people on this forum have gathered some specific technical knowledge from each of them. No they are not full production shots, but that wasn't the point.
The clips that have been supplied by members were not shot for the express purpose of this forum, so either be patient or supply someone with a budget for grip, electric, talent, & location and they will gladly shoot the type of footage you would like to see and then post it for all of us to share.
We are not here to sell you on the camera... that is JVC's job. Maybe you should be complaining to them, but please don't insult the contributions of a community you have just joined. We have feelings too.

Side note to Jarred or Barry: Maybe if there was a competitive category for "other cameras" in the DVXUser film fests there would be some motivation to produce some HD100 films that could be posted here.
