Limehouse, NO! Did you shoot anything? Isn't half of something better than all of nothing? Submit whatever you were at least able to put together, if anything, and get what could be some valuable feedback.
Then again, if you never shot frame 1, sorry to hear it didn't work out this go-around.

I am rushing to get the final effects done. I scaled them back to make the deadline, and now I'm still having problems. That's what I get for not running tests before hand. If anybody knows much about camera mapping in 3dstudio Max, please give me a shout. I'm desperate. :(

Someone should update the original post list of people still in... since people have come and gone from the list since then.
Just an idea :)

Didn't even get shot one :( I had problems on multiple fronts, but the good thing is that I'm ready for next time.
Hope yours is going well, Envision.

Each contest I get closer to a submission. I actually aquired a shotgun mic, made a boom and managed to complete a special effect(very bad meteor falling). I shot some test scenes (mostly crap) and realized that doing the scriptwriting, filming, special effects, sound and lighting might be a bit too much. Translation(I'm just not good enough at After Effects yet). I did learn a lot and tried a lot of things which will help me down the road. I love the genre but I hate poorly done scifi and if thats all I could manage I'll wait for the next contest. I look forward to seeing everyone's entrys.
Bigmagic, you've still got three days.
Turn on the camera, hit record, and then yell at the stars for 5:59 about hopes and dreams.

Sorry to hear that, Limehouse, but we'll look forward to seeing you in the next one!
We're going to be down the 11:59PM on the 31st to get this done! I'm madly trying to crank out all the FX right now, compositing, etc. ... my systems SCREAMING at me to stop as it keeps refusing to render everything. Oh, and our composer's been MIA for the last couple days, so I'm stressing about possibly not having a finished score as well. What I've heard is AWESOME, but it's only a little over half the score, and have won't do us much good for the festival.
K, back to work now.
but it's only a little over half the score, and have won't do us much good for the festival
Pitch it down by 50% or just reverse it and play that for the second half.
And no... I'm not being funny... just strange.
I enjoy happy accidents, so I'd probably try both just for the heck of it... But you've got some cg rendering to do... so mucho benifito dos oi es ya.

Thanks for the idea, wcs, and running it backwards would certainly be interesting AND creepy. However, finally heard from the composer tonight, and should hopefully have it tomorrow. I know it'll be great, so it'll be worth the wait.

We are almost done. I'm just taking a break while Spidey gets some food.
The last steps are always the longest ones. It seems like as soon as we solve an issue, we need to correct another one. Nothing new...I just always seem to forget the time crunch at the end. Tomorrow, 4 of us will meet and slap on the finishing touches.
See you cats at the finishline

I had one full scene that didn't get shot with my lead actor, so I'm going to be doing a stand in for him.
Heres whats funny, he's about 40 years old, gray haired and quite balding, about about 260 pounds, with a tan.
I on the other hand, am nearly translucent, 160 pounds, and 26 with dark wavy curly hair.
LOL? I think so!
Also beyond stepping in for him in that scene, I've got to mimic him for some coverage since I found a MASSIVE continuity flaw. I wont tell you what it is yet but lets see if you guys can figure out what I covered up when you see it.
(assuming you can even keep watching it)
Continuity schmontinuity. That's what I say.
We always run a line between performance and continuity. It's interesting to see which side people are on.

There wer several point in mine where I just said screw it. And I thinnk it may even add to the scene rather than detract. It partially ended up very strange Peter Andrews/ Battlestar Galactica Cinematography. I like it.

Was your film completed before Jan 31? That was the deadline.
I think mines up and good, the file size is the same, but my ftp software gave me a message that is was disconnected.
Can a Sys admin check to see if the whole movie is up... Let me know if it isnt, I will try again.
We're in, also, we had some issues with getting our .m2v files to have audio muxed in, they ended up as two seperate files so we sent those as a .sit and also a .mpg that claimed to have both mpeg-2 audio and video muxed but wont play back properly in quicktime so we have no idea what's going on, we sent in both just in case.
