Haven't ever tried it, but it has always had PRO features, but it looks really strange. And it's free software. More info from:

It's a great editor but it's not an easy editor. The interface (colors, widgets, etc) also turn some people away. I've used it off and on since its Broadcast 2000 days.

I've heard about this a while back, I've yet to hear anything about it. Linux isn't for the faint of heart and you need a good solid dual processor computer for it. I could easily take advantage of the renderfarm idea but setting that up is a lot harder than and isn't as useful as people think, especially if you're trying to do so with different hardware setups on each computer. The good thing is that it's free but the bad thing is that it's Linux and everyone else is used to the PC stuff. I'd try it but I don't have my copy of SuSE Linux here with me and it's the non-64-bit version too =P.

I have been looking into the discreet products I think fire is there NLE. Any feedback on it anybody.

Smoke is their editor. Another in their long tradition of uninformative names.
