Hi, I have an Eclair ACL 1 16mm movie camera. Do you know if I can use the 200´ Aaton minima film?
thanks

Are you asking because you have some? Or because you think that's the only 200' loads out there? Because you can order 200' daylight-spool loads direct from Kodak and Fuji, so you don't have to try to use A-minima loads...

If you want to use A-minima loads, I believe you can, but you'll probably have to remove the plastic flanges before putting the load in the mag. Also, IIRC, the A-minima loads are wound with the emulsion out, whereas standard 200' loads are emulsion-in, so you'd want to load it so it feeds off the bottom instead of the top (or vice versa). It's been a few years since I sold my ACL, so I don't recall the exact steps...

thanks Barry. i haven´t 200´film for my ACL 1 but I´m thinking in shoot the next project in 16 mm. but I think that the shoots with 100´film will be more troublesome (only 2,40 min of footage).

for this I asked the question because I believe that the kodak 200´ film are only for AAton minima´s cam, and there is no way to load the 200´mag of the ACL 1... or simply I have to split the 400´film in (2) 200´film? Is this the only way?

thanks a lot.

You don't need to order A-minima film. Kodak sells 200' loads on daylight spools, which can be directly used by the ACL. Also Fuji sells 200' loads on daylight spools.

200' daylight spools are not very common. They're basically bigger versions of the 100' daylight spool. You would need to remove the core adapter so that the spool would mate directly onto the camera magazine's spindle.
