So will this new panasonic have native 16:9 as opposed to squeezing? If not, will the old dvx anamorphic adapter work on it? These cards which can be used in place of tape, assuming you are shooting at best resolution, how many gb's do you need to approximate a 63 minute tape, and how much do they cost? Does this eliminate the need for a deck? Will the colors and contrast which made the dvx so dear to us be similar?

Yes, it is native 16:9, though SD is 4:3 by definition so the image is squeezed on recording in SD no matter what.

No old lens adapters will work as the diameter of the lens has changed.

"These cards" are called P2 cards.
Well...figure out how much space 63minutes at 100mb/s is.
I guess that's roughly 50GB of space (roughly).

How much do they cost? check panasonic's site...i think a 4Gb P2 is $1700 right now.

Yes, the need for a deck is eliminated up until you want to master your finished product to something.

No way of knowing anything about the image with certainty until you see it for yourself.

Do some searching on Panasonic's site, and on the other threads on DVXuser, most of the information you were asking for has been discussed numerous times on here.

Not sure what you mean by that -- SD 16:9 is very common in Europe, and is the primary method of distribution of Hollywood DVDs.

Are you referring to the anamorphic nature of the pixels?
