PowerMAC 2.7GHz Dual G-5, 8GB or Memory, 30in Cinema Display, 23in cinema display, 800GB of Hard Drive Space, Final Cut Studio (Editing / Sound software), P2 Card reader.
This would be the perfect solution with a Panasonic HVX-200 and the P2 Technology. Tell me this baby wouldnt process DVCPRO HD 1080p footage lightning fast and I'll have to laugh at ya...
Total Cost: $11,370.00 (not including the HVX)
What ya think? Would this do it or not?
Opinions, Comments, Questions, Suggestions welcome (keep it PG please!)

Since you used the word "Dream" let's make it dreamier:
Dual Dual Core 2.5Ghz, 8Gb of RAM, 2x30" Cinema Display, 2TB RAID, FCP 6 (no rendering never!)
I hope tomorrow Apple unveils new PowerMacs, the "current" line is like two years old.
You guys are still rubbish at dreaming!
Why not have a stack of 7TB XServe RAIDs? And while I'm at it, I would hope the new processors to run faster than the old, so probably looking at a Dual, Dual-Core G6 3.6Ghz (x4) with 16GB RAM, 2x23" Displays (30 is too big for me :)), 28TB of RAID storage... and most importantly, a new mouse (the only MS product I touch):

There is only one product for me: Matrox Axio ~ $22K - real time uncompressed 1080p 10bit HD.
Have u read the stats on the Intel G5 coming out?
I have read "stats," but nothing official. I believe they have OSX running on 3.6GHz P4s at the moment.

Why not a Quad Processor IntelMac instead?
Why not a Quad Processor IntelMac instead?
Okay, okay, fine...
DREAM (on) machine would be more like this... but in a robust laptop:
Realtime HD effects - NO PROBLEM! (http://www.apple.com/hardware/video/virginiatech/virginiatech_320.html)
I'm already playin with mine! :) Dual G5, twin cinemas, 5.6TB XServe Raid, etc.

2.5 Ghz processor can be much much faster than a 3.6 Ghz processor.. all depends on chip design...
but damn.. I also want that dream machine

I'm almost there.
I just need 5 more GB of memory, a 30 inch display to supplement my 24" Dell, and the P2 reader.

Hi Kai, do you use the Xserv with anything other than a Mac?
Also, I was reading the Cinema 4D website and noticed some examples copyrighted by Kai, are they yours? If so how well do you like Cinema 4D?

Why not a Quad Processor IntelMac instead?
Maybe because there's no software for it. That setup will be great in a couple of years...
