XL-1 softened images

I know this is a XL1 H forum but I don't see an XL-1 forum so hopefully some of you can help me. I'm shooting with an XL-1 and am noticing not so much a degredation in color but a flattening of the images. I don't know if it's always been like that I'm just getting used to seeing life through HD or if there's an issue with my XL-1. Could I be shooting with screwed-up settings? Is there a way to sharpen the results of the XL-1 if the footage is coming out too soft and unremarkable? Any help is appreciated.

I have always seen xl-1 footage to be very soft. I don't think there is a particular problme that you are describing, but seeing some footage or a screen shot would help. there is an xl2 page by the way, this question would be better suited there.
