Just wondering. Couldn't locate anything definitive on this.

Yes. Same formats as DVX100 or XL2.

The HD100U (NTSC model) shoots:
DV 60i (standard NTSC 60 fields per second)
DV 24P (2:3 pulldown)
DV 24PA (2:3:3:2 pulldown)
HDV-HD24P (720P)
HDV-HD25P (720P)
HDV-HD30P (720P)
HDV-SD60P (480P - 60 frames per second)
HDV-SD50P (576P - 50 frames per second)

The HD100E (PAL model) does DV 25P and DV 50i instead of DV24P and DV60i respectively.

Thanks. I was thinking of getting this camera, but with all the problems arising from it makes me hesitant. Now that I know it will record standard DV at least I know I can use it for work and play.

best bet is to see what it can do ...
i took a peak at a large hd screen with the cam set up and it blew my mind... and i bought it that afternoon... it is tragic the launch was so flawed and staggered... but the camera on a large screen held up extrodinarily well image wise.... don't judge it by the flip out screen. you have to see it on a monitor or better yet big screen hd tv.
