Maybe you should try the Cinematography or Lighting threads....

What does this have to do with the HVX? Are you trying to say that a good camcorder won't make an idiot film maker look good? If so, then fine, but I really don't see how this post belongs in this forum.

Hey, sorry. Yes, I really should have put this in the cinematography thread. Not the HVX. But this really seems to be the happening board. Yes, yes, I see my error. But I do like what you said scharky "Are you trying to say that a good camcorder won't make an idiot film maker look good?"

It's very true. As much as this camera will give a lot of quality to the less budgeted of us, it's not a substitute for film making. It's not like ANYTHING generated from this camera couldn't have been made prior to it's release.

I for one am actually disappointed I didn't buy a DVX. It's still a good cam and I think it will continue to be a great tool for filmmakers, not a crutch, for many years.

I guess my words may have been harsh. Too harsh. After re-reading what I read, it did come off as overly hard on many, including myself, still learning the trade.

I am looking forward for the HVX, but understand it's a tool. Just because you have pro tools doesn't mean you'll get pro work. And just because you don't have pro tools doesn't mean you can't do pro work.

Overblown sky through blinds (one thing I hate more then EVER —it looks so "Jimmy has a camcorder, lets make a movie")

Not sure what you mean by this. Are you saying the backlighting is too strong relative to a foreground interior?

A valid point, but yes, this post should probably be in the cinematography area.

Is there a way to delete or move my thread?

This is completely offtopic, and there is a similar thread that ended up pretty bad recently.

If you want my opinion, and sorry for being too harsh, there are tons of book recommendations over theese boards, you could have asked about them (or searched them, better yet) without trashing people's work.

Don't get caught on "this is the happening thread". Your topic probably will be moved soon, but if I were a moderator, I'd probably just block it. I don't see what good it will do either discuss the members skill level or if they deserve to have better camcorders. Honestly, I am starting to really doubt if this has anything to do with books at all...

No, it does have to do with books, hints, resources, whatever. It's just too easy to write something really quick and post without thinking. I didn't mean to point fingers and I do apologize for coming off harsh. Wasn't my intention.

The DVXuser boards are amazing. A LOT of great people with great knowledge and information and talent. But it is unfortunate how easily people jump on others when they ask simple redundant questions or in my case, tonally coming off differently then what I meant and posting in the wrong board.

I remember some time back someone posted something like "The HVX won't be able to record to tape? What's this P2 card business?" or something to that affect, and people just jumped on him because he didn't read a little deeper. Yes, yes, he was in the wrong, but it's not productive to say "Look it up jackass!" with no follow up. A little guidance is nice, especially for newbies —I'm a newbie.

I think text and boards can be a hard place to portray tonality in what you're saying. Dead text can hold a lot of emotion and context depending on who reads it and how they interpret it.

I'm just saying it can be a very polarizing experience. I didn't mean to shake things up. I want to be cool and be a part of this community. And I will take more care in how I write my posts.

No prob allridge. We are coming from a few incinerary topics lately, so this would really enerve some of the users. I also think I sounded kind of nervous when in fact I'm not. Keep cool...
