hi

here are some grabs of my new short. Its a family story. I color corrected them. There are three moods representing three stages of the story... hope you like it!

Looks awesome. What stands out is the color-- maybe it is just the still images. 24p, right? Not a great DOF, but it's Canon, and the fluorite makes up for it. I can achieve a similar effect, but not as much of an extent, with my GL2, and I attribute the color handling to the fluorite aspect.

I'd be really interested in seeing more! Thanks for posting!

thanks for the comments!

I like the colors too but I hated them before CC. The xl2 seems to add a greenish tone to everything. But maybe I just screwed the whitebalance :-) Yes itīs in 24p

And yes there isnīt much shallow dof going on but here in europe there is only the really expensive mini adapter available and I hate zooming in to the maximum for getting it without an adapter. Zooming in helps but it changes the picture. I mean there is a reason why people who shoot on film use different lenses. In my opinion the faces look flatter and you have the feeling you are not really there.

I love shallow dof as much as everybody here but Iīd rather get an adapter for my next project than film my actors from five miles away :-)

Video is video. I mean I know nobody wants to see that but video will always look like video! Except you got a dvx the andromeda system and an adapter. then you will live a happy and fulfilled life and make non-budget movies that look just like film :-)

you can get some decent shallow DOF with the xl2. Make sure you open up your aperture the most and use a ND or shutter speed to compesate for 2 much light. Also if you want extreme DOF and you need to use a longer focal length to get it a sterdier tripod will help with teh feeling of being distant, i know there is no way to replace the field of view you loose with a longer focal length but you can still get excellent results without an adapter. Also dont be afraid to get close to a subjects feature, video is a close up medium and this will give you more options with DOF. 1st and 3rd pic look very nice!

These grabs are decent, some overexposed and a little amaetuer in the framing etc. Work on practical lighting and framing when you shoot, also, the 1st and 3rd look good out of the bunch. Good luck!

Not bad at all. Really like the first grab.
