For you folks looking for LCD HDTV's or Computer HD-input LCD's, you may want to consider these at Costco:

These are the 32", but they also have 27" models at most Costco's for $749. I asked the Costco guy to please hookup a component signal to that and the 32", and he did, and I was just blown away at what $749 can buy these days. I watched about 15 minutes of Movie previews on them. They have DVI input for computer use, and I am thinking of buying one to use as computer editing LCD as well as TV. The motion and quality was just amazing. For $200 more than I paid for my 19" LCD, I can get a 27" LCD/HDTV.... with 1366 x 768 res and 12ms response time. Video looks incredible on them.
I don't suppose we can use you as our middle man to make Costco give us a DVXUser discount...?
Didn't think so.

$1000.00 ??
Screw that. I had trouble swallowing $300.00 on my 27" SD Tele
They need to bring High Def waaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy down into reality
I must admit, I would love to see a $400 27" LCD TV, but that is where regular tube HDTV's are now. I am seriously thinking of the 27" though, because I was just about to buy a second 19" Sony computer LCD, and this way I can have a 27" with HDTV input.
Oh while I was there, i also saw a native XGA res Sharp projector with HD inputs for $899. 2000 lux at 2000:1 contrast.

Only if Jarred, Barry and John make the call and "recommend" me

If I see projectors hit $500.00 I'm all over it. That is one cool set-up when you have an 81" movie playing with sorround sound in your living room!
Awesome.
You know what's funny, I said to myself two years ago, when XGA projectors go under $1000, I am buying one, but now I see myself looking at these LCD's... Why is that? I dunno, I guess I dig the quietness of the LCD (Is quietness a word? )

Is quietness a word?
...Yes, but you don't hear it that often...

Hey John, if I find a decent HDTV projector I want to buy, I'll sell you my current SD one for $500...

Dang the price sure looks sweet, but... Isn't 1280x720 too low a res for a 27" computer LCD? I use 1280x1024 on my 19s and I'd guess that at 27 inches the pixels would be sticking outta everywhere. I've be looking at Dell 24" for a while and unless you can convince me that those TVs can do just as good for editing, I'll be thinking the opposite.
Besides, Rush, which one set did you mean, Viewsonic or Spectre? Couldn't find one that'd have 1366x768 on their site.
I am surprised that the flat screen TVs/monitors haven't undercut CRT monitors yet, they are far cheaper to manufacture and ship.

I think I saw a 37 inch LCD tv at costco's....
think it was $1800 Canadian.... (1400 US?)... that really got my attention.
I paid that much for my 27 inch lcd last Christmas.

With a name like Maxent, it must be good! Hey Rush, I have a genuine Hetachi I'll sell you. :) hehehehe

Seriously, that's a good price. These monitors were $5k+ a few years ago. Electronics must be the worst investment ever. Computers, stereos, and TVs never increase in value. ...Except my DVX, that is. ....It just gets better with age and drum hours.
If the resolution is
Resolution: 1366 x 768
I wonder what it does with a 1080i or 1080p signal? If I am going to spend the money for an HD editing monitor, I think it needs to display a non-interpolated image.
That I don't know galt, but I mean, just watching it, it looked spectacular. I have seen so many LCD TV's at Circuit City that don't look anywhere near as good.
PK, how much you want for you Hetachi? I know Maxent is an off-brand, but Costco is a club that gives you a 1 year no question asked money back guarantee on everything they sell. Besides all these LCD screens are coming from the same factory now.

They have quite a selection, what's the difference between a 32" LCD HDTV monitor that costs $999 and one that costs $1499? (other than $500)
I don't think much Chuck. I mean, the Maxent stuff looked better than the Viewsonic right next to it, for sure.
