What is expected to happen to the price of the DVX100A when the HVX200 is released? Is there an expected drop just before release, and then a level off? Right now its at about $3,000. If it drops to closer to $2500 I'd have to seriously consider buying it instead of the HVX (coming from a guy who owns a sony and wants to make the switch to panny)

The DVX100A will be replaced by the DVX100B by the time the HVX200 is released. The MSRP is the same ($3995). Whether there will be any marketing incentives (rebates, bundles, etc) has yet to be announced.

We have just dropped the price of B-Stock DVX100A's to $2600 because of the rebates on the new one's. They have very low hours if any and come with original packaging and accessories including Magic Bullet and the DVX Book and DVD.

After the $500 rebate, free $165 battery, $130 of free tape, (Not even counting Barry's $80 combo, and the $300 Magic Bullet software) it brings the final price of a brand new AG-DVX100A down to $2505. The initial cost will still be around $3327, but the final price after savings is that much lower. We still have brand new DVX's in stock

So if the 100b replaces the A soon, it is safe to say there will possibly be another significant drop in price(or raise in rebate) ..no?
I don't think there will be any left for rebates. We just have one load left, and then that's it.

Well, I guess this is a great deal, but I'm watching the DVX I purchased about a year ago disappear. It's already lost about $1200 in value compared to buying a new one and more than 2/3 of its value when checking the going rate on eBay. I had hoped some value could be salvaged to buy an HVX200 but it looks as if I'll be starting from nearly zero.
Well, I held off buying a Z1 and HD100 because the HVX sounds like what I have always hoped for. I still feel this way, but wonder why someone would buy a DVX100B at this point?

That's the way it is buying video cameras, and has to be factored into your decision making. You will take a significant "hit" even buying one and selling it the very next day.
Hopefully you are able to reclaim the purchase price doing work with the camera and make a profit beyond that.
Rapidly changing technology like this just doesn't hold its value.
If you want relative stability in price in the world of production, buy lights, microphones or C-stands... :)

Spec-Comm are you an authorized reseller for panasonic?

Hi Bob, considering that we sold 25 DVX100A's in the past 2 weeks, I have to say, I think there is still a huge market for the 100B, primarily with people who don't care about HD 16:9, just want 4:3 SD, and also can't afford the $5500+ price of the HVX. The 100B will still be $2000 below that.

PS, I coudn't believe it, but we we forced by customers to take 3 orders for 100A's even after we sold the last one. They were like, "You gotta find one for me." We called Panny, and they are getting us some in the next couple days. I just couldn't believe how popular the 100A still is, even in the face of the 100B and HV200...
