View Full Version : Finest Grain?

Hey all!

I want to shoot some lenses definition tests, and I was searching for a fine grain (not incredibly expensive) film, could be negative or reversal (although I would rather shoot reversal and incorporate a few other tests in the same roll...).

Any suggestions? (Kodak or Fuji, since others might be a little harder to find...)

Thanks!

Fuji Velvia 100F and Provia 100F reversal films are easy to find and both have an RMS (granularity) of 8, which is extremely low. I've shot lens tests with both film stocks and with a high quality loupe (like a Schneider), it's easy to judge lens quality.

Thanks Barry, I'm going to try the Velvia 100 then!

Cheers!

If you decide to get really crazy with the whole sharpness thing, Gigabit film is supposed to be one of the sharpest films made. It's about a 40 ISO if I remember correctly, it's black and white, and you have to get it from Europe, but you might check it out...
