I have made Dual Recording files before successfully, one card recording at 100Mbs and the other at 8Mbs. I used identical 128GB cards to do this: SanDisk 128GB, Extreme Pro, 95MB/s, SD XC1, 3 (in the "U") , 10 in the "C" cards.

Today I tried to use a 32 GB card with the 128GB card. It didn't work. The camera gave me an error message: "Cannot be used due to incompatible data. Use another card."

The 32GB card is marked SD HC1 instead of SD XC1. Is that the reason for the incompatibility? Otherwise the markings are the same.

Thanks.

Yes, that's the reason for the incompatibility. You can't use an SDHC card with an SDXC card simultaneously. The two different card types store their files in different formats (FAT32 for the SDHC, EXFAT for the SDXC). So you can use SDHC with SDHC, and you can use SDXC with SDXC, but you can't use SDHC with SDXC.
