Does anyone here have any experience with the Kinor 35 Moviecam knockoffs? Has anyone played with the SlowMotion Inc. Version called the Kinoflex S35V? Any words of wisdom about these cameras? I thought about buying one recently because it came with everything you would possibly need, except a 4 pin power connection. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I called them about one of those S35V's back in like...........gosh...............June or July of 2002! I think he was saying then like fully outfitted it was half of the price of a Moviecam Super America. So I'm guessing around $25K - $40K. Although that was to buy one. Who knows what he charges to modify a 35H or 35S.

I have used the Kinor 35H on numerous occassions. They work pretty well, but are a little quirky. I had to fabricate a 4 pin power input and a new fuse housing to make it really workable. The fuse is very important. If the camera mis-feeds film, it will blow the power fuse to keep the motor from drawing too many amps and frying the motor. The orginal housing uses little ceramic russian fuses that noone can find. I replaced it with an american-style fuse housing.
The Slow Motion, inc cameras are basically the same as the 35H. They have new electronics (american style) with 4 pin power and a PL mount, I think. They are also lighter than the 35H, I think. The biggest thing is the electronic upgrade. I also think these are new cameras, but I'm not really sure. The weak link in the both cameras is the main drive belt. It can slip and screw up mirror and claw sync. You have to make sure it is wearing evenly and all.
I talked with Slow Motion inc last year some time. They offer the new camera for around $35k, I think and will rework the electronics on a Kinor 35H for about $8k.
Hope that helps!
