This is something my roommates and I shot two nights ago. I just finished it tonight. There's no color correction and they're suppose to be holding guns but this was just a spur of the moment kind of thing. I think it took us about 30 minutes to shoot.

I agree, for :30 minutes and no guns you got it right. Nice choice of comp and good work in post. Felt like a chase scene.

..i liked this.. i liked this alot!

albiet the unlit scenery and talent, the realism *of the city felt alive to me through the muddy colors. *the editing was great. and *the music while not accentuating the actoin on screen, did employ some efforts towards heightening the tension , and brought the piece to a point of believablility.
so i really enjoyed this ..

.. *a couple things i didnt like though
#1 the out of focus shots.... they seemed intentional to me, but i didnt quite get the reasonig for it within the segment i saw. *anyway it was cool and i could tell what was going on during them.

#2 we never see the two running in the same shot

#3 when the guy chasing comes around the corner there is a guy on *the wall just standing there, and he cautiosly walks towards him aiming the imaginary gun at him.. then it cuts to the rabbit(guy being chased) jumping the rail, and *the guy chasing him again accross the street.. *the editing there was lacking. *the figure standing is too dark to discern if its the same guy that he was chasing, and I thought at first he had the wrong guy.. *then it just cuts to the guy being chased again.. it doesnt show any change bewtween this "closing in" section and what causes the other guy to be running again.. perhaps it was the wrong guy, and he just sees the right guy running again, or perhaps it was the right guy, and he takes off again.. i couldnt tell.. *either way it was still entertaining, and pretty cool.. simple and cool.
:)

Thanks for the comments everyone. Iamloser, the reason why some of those shots are out of focus like the very last one is because it was just something we got at the end of the night that was very unplanned. Next time I go out there it will look better. Also the reason why the guy hopping the railing looks kind of out of place is because it was just a shot I wanted to see how it would look. The same thing with the other guy hopping the railing and running across the street. In fact when I was cutting this together I was just going to leave it with the guy coming around the corner with his imaginary gun drawn. I only added the jumping over the railing as a test to see if I could do it. It kind of works. Thanks for the break down of the piece, it always helps in the end.

Nice setups. I actually like that the guys are using imaginary guns. It would be interesting if you added gun shot sounds to the imaginary guns. Also, sounds of shoes running on gravel and pavement would add to the chase feel. Not bad for thirty minutes.

Just realized you had gunshot sounds at the very beginning. You might want to bring those sounds up and make them more prominent. It somehow slipped by my first viewing.

I think you were hearing the cars going by the tunnel. I have no gun shot sound FX in this little clip. Thanks for the comments.

GOOD WORK.
In my openion inserting few REACTION shots and one COMBINATION shot will make the story tellig much better. Here both of them are going on in there own pace with out a clear link other than it is happening in the same place and same time.
For example
01. In the first shot immediately after the artist#1 shoot show the stripe shirt guy take cover. This will establish the plot.
02. Some breathers in between the action make it more tensed. Like artist#2 coming round a corner not sure where the other guy is.

I might turn this into a little bit longer of a short. If that happens then there will be some of those shots your talking about PC. It was just something that we through together while we went out there.

I liked it alot. Did you use any lighting or a run and gun? Also, what settings did you have your camera set to? I really liked the looked.

All the lighting was whatever was out on the street. I would have liked use some lights but it was very run and gun. It was more for fun than anything else. Here are the settings.

24P ADV
Shutter 1/48
Detail 0
Chroma Level -7
Chroma Phase -6
Color Temp -6
Master Ped -6
Gamma Cine-like
Skin Dtl Off
Matrix Norm

I also shot with white balance A. Thanks for the comments.

I'm going to try and post more stuff than I have in the past. I also have a short that I'm trying to get casted right now. So once I get some that footage cut together I'll post it.

Yep. I've been driving by that place for a while and always thought it would be a cool place to shoot at night. Might go back there and do some more shooting soon.
