I'd like to know if there is a place that lists the various types of equipment used on some major films... Mainly the filmcamera/filmstock/lenses etc. It's my guess that this information doesn't really exist in the form I'm expecting. But wouldn't it be nice to just look up on IMDB and be like "oh ok that was shot on Panavision". Well come to think of it, would IMDB pro have this info available?

One day I might just have to make a website dedicated to all this.... It seems cinematograpy.com could give me some answers, it'd just be alot more work searching the forums.

There's a magazine called "American Cinematographer" that covers technical aspects of cinematography of the major films out there and they generally show which lens/stock/camera was used and more importantly why.

Online version (limited version) here: http://www.theasc.com/magazine/

It's a very respected magazine. I know some veteran cinematographers that don't live without it.
