Festival Express was dubbed "the longest party in rock 'n roll history." Janis Joplin, The Grateful Dead, the Band and several other artists boarded a train in Canada and headed west performing shows along the way. The entire trip was documented and AV Squad conducted it's first movie junket with the film's director, Bob Smeaton, and sound engineer, Eddie Kramer.
*
The junket was videotaped with the Panasonic DVX100 set to 24P (F5). The subjects in the interview were lit with 2-ARRI 300 fresnels and 3-ARRI 650 fresnels. The colored striped were created with 2-ARRI 650 fresnels and 1-ARRI 1000 fresnels and gels. Audio was gathered with 2-Azden WLX-Pro wireless lavs. The package was edited with FCP4.

B-Roll was gathered from the "Festival Express" EPK

Host reads were also filmed using the equipment mentioned above.

Ha! Thanks. AV Squad does not air during the summer. Even though we're in the field shooting, I don't really edit AV's content during the summer. Now that season is underwat, I'm back in the saddle!
