Finally had a couple hours to take my two week old DVX eight blocks from my home to Lake Michigan. I tried out various settings and applied Magic Bullet to some footage. Here are a few grabs:

I've noticed that the DVX100A has far richer browns and oranges than the not-A. Even shooting in a forest, my DVX100's browns are slightly more bland. Did you color correct?
Either way, both are awesome cameras -- viva 24p revolution!

Yes, I did do minor color correction with FCP. The last grab is with Magic Bullet, sunset grad I think. Here is the original:

Wow, that's weird, I posted here earlier and it completely disappeared. Anyway, I was commenting on how beautiful your shots were. Nice to see a kindred spirit on the board * :D

The last shot was a little severe in its effect in my opinion. Before I knew what you had done, I was trying to figure out how the water could be that color and the sky be a completely different color.

Thanks for the responses guys. Yes, disjecta, I know what you mean about the water's color in that last photo, it looks like a giant suer backed up. I was like a kid with a new toy using MB ;D Here are a couple more grabs:

great shots! pretty impressive how sharp that horizon is....are you doing something in post to get it that sharp?

Actually, on the wide shots I only applied a minor color tweak with FCP's 3 way color corrector for white balancing purposes. I was using a Tiffen 85 and a Schneider True Pol in my mattebox, I was a little off on my white balance but not by much. All these shots were using the Cinelike_D Gamma and CineMatrix, I do like the Cinelike_D Gamma but I think I need to adjust the knee which was set to auto because if you notice on the rocks and tree, there is some blowout. This reminds me of when I had my original DVX when using CineGamma which had no knee and caused that ugly sort of posterization on overblown highlights.

I may be wrong but I don't think you can adjust the knee with that setting.

Yes, I noticed that I have 4 knee choices (auto, low, medium, high).

Interesting, I didn't think you could change the knee using the CINE settings...I seem to remember trying but the camera didn't allow me to choose another option.

I'll have to double check but I'm almost positive I had the knee option. It may be when I switched the matrix to normal though.

Well, not in my camera for sure... ??? :P Can you really change them?

Gualbert, do you have the "A" model? I'll have to double check when I get home but I think disjecta is right, I may have noticed you can change the knee when you are in normal gamma mode and normal matrix. All my frame grabs were using Cinelike_D and Cinematrix for sure. I'll post some movie files when I find a place to store them.

I don't hink you can do that also, Don...

...but you still can save them applying a "desaturate Highlights" filter.

That second grab is beautiful. I would risk saying it's elegant.

Just got home, I was wrong, no adjusting the knee using the settings I was. Only when I switch the gamma to normal, then I can adjust the knee. Thanks for the replys.
