I am still puzzled by the different pixel counts for the different frame rates etc. 1549Mpixel for FHD, 871 UHD 59.94P, 1259 UHD 29.97P, 1335 4K/24P. Are these then different crops of the full sensor at these different rates ? If this is the case then UHD/59.94P may be a small center crop of the full sensor ? How much bigger will this be than the current 1/2.3 sensors of the HXC1000 or the Sony's FDR-Ax1 or PXW-Z100 ? If this is the case then the lens will have different ranges for each of these frame rates too ?

Yes, I believe that is quite correct (though the numbers seem to have a decimal point missing, so should be 15.49Mp, 8.71Mp etc).

For 4K/60p I believe because of the crop, the wide angle equivalent focal length (in 35mm terms) is about 37mm, versus 28-29.5mm for the lower frame rate modes. The active area of the sensor is then roughly equivalent to a 1" sensor.

Look at the brochure and they give the 28-29.5mm figures for the lower framerate modes, but the figure for 4K/60p is strangely absent....... You have to work it out from the numbers you gave.

Very interesting camera. Similar concept to my HVX202 which I still use for long-form event recording.

Now, I wonder if the monitor is far enough forward to stick on a loupe and then shoulder mount the camera – similar to what the FS7 does?

Adding a shoulder VCT-14 type plate (like BS-T03) would be easy enough, and then you could add a matte box and/or extra gear on the back like lapel RF receiver.

I really hope they can add 422 with a firmware update – even if it’s for 1080 recording. With those SD cards, they should have enough headroom in the bitrate.

Here's my DVX200 first impressions: http://www.4kshooters.net/2015/10/26/panasonic-dvx200-4k-footage-and-first-impressions/

And some 4K footage I shot with it. So far, I like the camera, a lot.

What scene file did you use for this?

Man those highlights DO NOT look good when they blow out.

Here are two still frames. The first one is taken from the default scene 1 setting. The colors look off with a lot of yellows. I did a white balance to start.

Then in FCPX I did match color with a GH4 which had recorded the same scene and the colors are better, The yellows are gone. What do I adjust in the scene file to make the color look like the Gh4? And why does this native scene file in the camera looks so aweful?

It's because of the 2ndary LUT i used, they are not clipped and still below 255 on the waveform. Here's a re-grade with a more conservative LUT, you can see all the highlight detail retained from the V-Log files.

Ah, that looks much better. Cool.
