Well, this has some XL2 footage in it as well (covers ears for the loud booing), but the majority is on S16, so I decided to put it in this section...mods, feel free to move it if there is a better place.

The present day S16 footage was shot with with a K3 with crystal sync motor on Fuji Eterna500T, and the flashback scenes were shot with a spring-wound K3 with an older Kodak film (forgive me...I don't remember exactly what it was).

Jeremy Edge (a member of the band) came up with the treatment, and I did the shooting and editing (PP 1.5 with some AE).

Enjoy, and please leave comments.

Very nice video. I really like the intermittent blow out and snow effects. The window blow out behind the band looked good too. It looks like you really get into the stylized looks to add production value.

To take it even further, I suggest you try using Spectra Film and Video. They specialize in the use of different films, processing methods and telecine techniques. Their work is quite nice and the people there are great to deal with.

You can find them here: www.spectrafilmandvideo.com

They process and telecine 35mm, 16 and super 8. They also have a good supply of stock on hand that they package together with their services at a good discount. With this in mind, I thought using some grainy super 8 for the dream sequences would have been nice.

Either way you play it keep up the good work!

We ended up getting this transferred twice...once on a Shadow, and then again on a Telecine...we just weren't happy with the look of the first transfer.

Thanks for the tip, and I'm bookmarking that page!

Ug. Downloading 36 megs ain't appealing. Maybe that's what caused the disparity of views- to- comments.

Post a shorter clip and I'm sure you'll have viewings

if i try streaming the video, i get an error that says something about the server could not be found. i also tried downloading it, and only the first 15-20 seconds play. what i saw looks pretty sweet though.

Video streams fine and starts almost instantly from a cable or dsl connection.
Checked it from more than one pc.
I was under the impression just about everyone here editing video has broadband.

If you guys are having download probelms you've got something up on your end.

Okay, so I'm a little late . . . very filmic! <g>.

Nice flow to your shots--worked well with the music.
Not sure how hard you worked on your lighting, but it looked perfect to me, really helped establish the mood. Also, I especially liked some of the guitar closeups.
Did you use "Shine" in a couple of those hallway shots?
Nice job--wish I were as capable.

Thanks for the comments!!

We really have no clue how to light...in all honesty we were pretty much guessing, so I'm glad it came out all right!

I did use shine...everywhere the girl is seen in the modern day setting...I needed something to make her look a little more 'ghostly' and I think shine pulled it off nicely. I had original intended to make her semi-transparent by filming the empty hallway, then her in the hallway and adjusting the opacity, but I got owned by the frame jitter...grrrr. Maybe next time :-)

the XL2 intercuts actually look better than the Super16 cuts....Looks like the 24 fps shutter is struggling on the 16mm cam at that exposure.

disagree with me at your leisure. recently shot with Xl2, gigantic grip truck of goodies, and good DP. Definitely looks better than Super 16...

Nice to see something shot with the K-3. There's a lot of talk about it, but you see precious few examples of actual footage. Thanks for sharing it with us. I have a K-3 just sitting on my shelf. This inspires me to do something with it. Thanks.

Just a couple of questions. What lenses did you use? And did you lose much time when having to change rolls since the k-3 doesn't have a magazine?
