Hey everyone... DVX feature called "Leaving Town" shot on an ultra low budget that I wrote/directed.

Here's the teaser trailer.

The score for the film is written by Third Eye Blind's bassist, Arion Salazar, and the film will be out really soon.

Take a look and tell me what you think! Feeback welcome!

Thanks,

Looks good. Some of the scenes seem a little under lit but that maybe just seeing it out of context but it looks like an interesting story.

Good work.

Not underlit... very dark scenes towards the end. :)

..i thought it looked good, *but i have to agree that portions were underlit as well. *a little better color correction would help those scenes alot though.

(if possible , *using more light, and adjusting in post would offer awider contrast for the scene, and help due away with the flatter , washed out look , desaturation, and noise/grain that comes from using too little light when shooting.)

anyway i thought the actors looked pretty solid. and the plot seemed believable. great job .. its good stuff. *:)

Funny thing is: it was darkened in post! This Windows media player clip doesn't do it justice. One more thing to damn Microsoft for!

doh! yeah, it will bring out some more color and such on an ntsc viewing arrangement as well. but the image is still just off a little. the correction just needs to be tweaked a little if theres room there to play with. a little different curves adjustment perhaps.. anyway. i dont mean to nitpick your footage.. just offering some pointers on something that myself and apparently disjecta had attented to as well. I wasnt looking to nitpick the footage when viewing..it was somthing that became easily apparent as i watched. but again I think the film looks great. and appluad your work. and if you feel its good as is then pay me no mind.. after all ive only seen the trailer, and have no real feel or bearing about the film as a whole anyway :)

I second those thoughts, Neil. The movie looks really good and there is a tendency to just mention the things that stand out a little odd and absolutely not intended to diminish your work in any way.

Not taking any harm in what's being said. Greatly appreciated :) Second guessing my cinematgrapher :) Haha- no he did a great job considering the budget/time constraints. And the film is being distributed so it's been a great lesson in learning what to do and what not to do!

check out: www.mimeticonline.com/flint/ for a music video I just finished... maybe I've improved?

All feedback is welcome! Only way I'm gonna learn.

Hey man,

The link to the trailer only works for Internet Explorer. I haven't tried on my Mac, so I don't know if it opens on Safari.

I know it didn't work on FireFox.

Anyway, the trailer looks good and like others have mentioned, there are some underlit scenes.

And, nice try with the voice!!! It looked almost identical.

All the best

Fidel.

Fidel,

Yeah the voice over... just a friend of mine that actually was in the film too... not a bad Mr. Movie Guy quality out of him though!

That voice in the trailor sounds just like the movies!

I thought you did a really good job portraying to the audience what the plot was, that part felt very professional. You can probably cut a little off near the end and not hurt anything.

Very good job!

This teaser was slapped together for a Panasonic convention last year to screen some footage I'd shot for the film, for Eminem and for Vanessa Carlton so it was more about just getting a "feel" for the film. It's nice to know the story line is readable from it.

There are two more full trailers on the way. I'll post them as soon as I have them.

Does anyone know if using the ADJUST tools in quicktime for brightness, etc... are as good as in the editing software or after effects?

this trailer is waaaaaaaay to long and shows waaaay to much of the plot.

see my post in film discussion:

2. you shall not have a 10 minute trailer that shows every good part/funny moment/plot twist in the whole movie. (i, robot anyone?) does no one remember the matrix? the only thing you got to see was ...what is the matrix? that's it, not even a screen shot. tell me why i should go see it, not show me the whole thing.

"this trailer is waaaaaaaay to long and shows waaaay to much of the plot."

The trailer is 2 and a half minutes... not exactly out of the normal trailer realm.

And I challange you :) If this trailer shows "waaaay too much of the plot" please tell me what the plot of this film is with all the details that aren't saved for actually screening the film.

Also, I don't remember too many good films that seeing a trailer or two or a 10 minute advanced look at every ruined my experience of enjoying the film as whole.

"2. you shall not have a 10 minute trailer that shows every good part/funny moment/plot twist in the whole movie. (i, robot anyone?) does no one remember the matrix? the only thing you got to see was ...what is the matrix? that's it, not even a screen shot. tell me why i should go see it, not show me the whole thing."

Not every film can be marketed in the same teasing way the Matrix was... you don't think if it was Warner Brothers and Keanu in that film that people wouldn't have tuned out? Also.. advertising Leaving Town as "No one will know why they wanted to leave town... What is their reason?" Wouldn't exactly work for this particular film.

Please tell me all the funny moments, good parts, and plot twists in this film because I guarentee what you've seen there isn't even worth 10% of how the story unfolds.
