View Full Version : No sd on new hd cam?
I don't see any mention to sd recording. Sure the camera has the mini-dv logo, but that can mean playback only...
People have said it will record DV, I would be very surprised if not.

The specs on the canondv website for the camera say that it will do good 'old DV (including the not so good 'old DV-LP)

This is good if want to do something in DV for television or private use for myself or people without HDTV. Will the camera be doing an internal down conversion to DV? if so that's even better. You'd get to start out with the highest quality DV possible. And are we talking 24f DV?

Mikko, can you post a link to this information? On the h1 website I can't find this information. Thanks

It not only records both HD and SD but also outputs both via SD-SDI and HD-SDI connector. That means you can output uncompressed HD and also record it as a backup in the camera. Or record regular old SD.

The specification information Mikki refers to can be found if you click the "product information" button on the right and choose "specifications". The camera is fully miniDV capable, fully HDV capable, and the HD-SDI port can also be used to export uncompressed SD.
