Wal-Mart has them for 19.95

Not really sure how to answer your question. It's not like they are mass produced. They're not available in various outlets. I suppose you could check ebay from time to time. You might pay about $1000 less, but you'd still have to buy the canon mount.

Or you could try the Guerilla35 or Micro35 both around $1000

Still not sure I understand your question.

Are the prices expected to drop on the mini35 now that the competition has thickened up a bit? There's a pretty big gap between them, around 8 grand for the Mini35, and then suddenly we drop to 1 grand and below for the others, what's up with that?

The mini35 isn't 8 grand, it's $11,000 when you get all the pieces you need.

As to whether prices will drop or not -- we'll see. I think the vast majority of mini35 units aren't going to end customers, I think they're likely going to rental houses. And I suspect a rental house may be comfortable with renting out the mini35 but may not find a ready market for renting out micro35/G35 class adapters. So the actual market for the mini35 may not be impacted much.
