So i have always loved macro photogrpahy. The detail you can see in things closeup is astonoshing compared to how we are used to seeing things. Althougth the 20x flourite lens on the xl2 is nice and can focus to what it seems like infinitly close, we are still limited to how close we can get on things because things like light get obscured when working that close to the object. I didnt have the money to buy a 72mm matched macro adapter so i bought two step down rings to use my 49mm adapter on the xl2. I knew there would be a huge amount of vingnetting but it didnt matter to me since anything i owuld be doing that required something this close up would need me to zoom past the rings anyway. Aside from this the vingettig gives it a nice spy cam effect. The pictures were fully zoomed forward and the object was almost 2 feet away! So here are some quick results:

I was really astonished by how close i was able to get to the matches. with still film photogrpahy the biggest i ever see things are my 8 by 10 prints to see the results on a nice large television shows details that are incredible. I know the grabs dont look fantastic in terms of anything except the size but my lighting was horrible. For some reason the grab also doesnt look so sharp but trust me it was as sharp as you would expect from the xl2.
I have been thinking a lot about lenses and i have afew questions for anyone that wants to answer:
1. whats the diffrence between video, cine, still photographic lenses and why can
2. why cant the aperture be controlled by the camera and not the lense ]]
3. what would happen if i hooked up a still lens to the xl2 does where do i control teh aperture from (would i get the depth of field like a 35mm camera)
4. why are video lenses so large in diameter.
5. what would happen if i were to use rings to attach a photo lens backwards to the xl2 lens could this work much like a lens mounted backwards for sharper macro photos.
Thats enough to chew for now i would basically like to hear peoples input on intresting things you can do by having the flexabily of a detachable lens system
