THE SONY CYBERSHOT DSC-R1 WITH A 10.3 Megapixel APS SIZE CMOS SENSOR (1.68X crop factor)
As some had predicted, they are actually housing a nearly identical sensor that was co-developed with Nikon for their new DX CMOS, which is featured in their D2x DSLR and supposedly upcoming D200 DSLR. Wonder if Canon and Nikon will follow up with an APS size sensor in the successors to their high end prosumer models?

It's what's on the inside that counts.

...and having a body like that never hurt either...

Man that's a sexy body. Too bad it's not an SLR...

That sensor is GIANT. Kai- dont you use an EOS 1DsMkII? I am hopefully getting a 10D soon, I know it's not full frame, but for a newb like me whose upgrading from a pentax spotmatic F it's more than enough.....for experimentation and such.....

Yeah that's my cam, but hey, they're all tools. I've seen amazing photos come out of point & shoots in the right hands.

Here is a more accurate representation of the old 2/3 sensor found in the previous F828 model versus the new APS in the R1.
Some of the alleged sample images circulating the web appear to be worthy of mention. Images shot at ISO 400 are definitely usable, much better results than what was previously available on the 2/3. Also, 100% crops show virtually no purple fringing in areas of high contrast, but still exhibit a somewhat soft shift in hue, sort of green/cyan.

Also, just out of curiosity.
How soon do you think we'll see the implementation of an APS sensor in an HD camera?
