I pay $29.99 a month for everything Adobe has.

Your mileage may vary.

It is now (which is why I moved away from Adobe). Adobe CS6
was the last version that you could buy outright. You could still
buy that version but there is no path forward for people who want
to have 'perpetual rights.' Adobe is now subscription only software.

Isn't it funny that the price varies in different territories, for what is a common download. It's currently 27 POUNDS a month here - which is $42!

There's also student pricing which is lower, and first-year pricing which is like half when offered.

I gave my son my CS6 license - you can find a used disc on eBay and if the seller is legit and deauthorizes it, you're good to go.

CC 2014 says it requires OS X 8; I'm still on 7.5 because upgrading ProTools will be very pricey for me at this point (new interface + software) so I'm waiting til I buy a new Mac in early 2015. But - it's running fine on 7.5, the new keying features are pretty sweet.

I've been using AEX for some hobby work but if I was starting out I might learn Blackmagic's newly acquired EYEON FUSION 7. It's free lacking a few features like the Davinci Resolve Lite model.

If you're interested I'm selling my CS5.5 Production Premium CDs box and license on Ebay under seller name "ilconde" for $300 starting bid. I deactivated my license because I no longer need it. It includes all the major adobe titles.

Important to point out that the vendor can raise the price each time your annual subscription is up for renewal.

Your two choices are 1) pay the asking price or 2) go out of business.

So much for the traditional "advantage" of having your own business so that you are in control.

Bottom line, the vendor (not you) is in control of your business when you use any SaaS product for mission-critical work.

So far as I know, you cannot map from one NLE format to another.
